Maggie came to our house during peak COVID season in 2020. A doe of this quality is rarely available and we jumped on the chance to add her to our herd. She is truly a tribute to Jeff Klein's breeding program and vision for the Toggenburg breed. Her tremendous area of udder attachment jumps out when you first see her - with lateral attachments that extend far up the body floor combined with the correct shape of mammary system. Then the extreme correctness when it comes to length and levelness over the topline and the set and strength to her rear legs. Maggie has many of the traits that we have long looked for in all of our breeds.
2020: Maggie joined us in late April and we were really happy to be able to finally get her out in the ring. She was 8x 1st, 3x 2nd, and 8x BOB. She also joined right into the milking line with a 3000#+ pound lactation and ended up being #4 in butterfat on the Top 10 list. She will be bred to Butterfly's son this fall.
2021: Maggie had triplets this spring. Maggie looked really good this spring - hitting that 4year old, full maturity stage. She traveled the best of all of our goats to Louisville and ended up placing 1st/1st udder in the 4 year old class and then went on to be named Res. National Champion. Then to top that off, she appraised 93 EEEE this October - our first 93! She had a strong show season the rest of the year as well - 14x 1st, 4x 2nd, 4x GCH, 1x Res, 14x BOB, 3x BDIS, and 1x BUIS. She additionally was 9th this year in Butterfat production. We have yet to be able to keep a doe kid out of her so we plan to do an Embryo Transfer on her and then live breed her afterwards. For the ET she will be bred to Jackpot along with Rowe's Solano Renoir. Then we will breed her to Jackpot for the kids she will carry.
2022: We were hoping to be able to keep a couple of doe kids from Maggie and our wishes were granted - 5 doe kids out of the live breeding plus her ET. We currently plan to keep all 5. Maggie had a unique show season - last fall she picked up a bug at one of the state fairs and dropped significantly in milk. She recovered fine but she never really came back into milk. It made it easy to dry her off and we hoped that a new freshening would correct whatever was off. It took until September of 2022 for her to be back to her normal self and we are glad she did. While she was still a little off at Nationals - we were happy with her 3rd place in the 5 & 6 year old class. She joined us again at the different state fairs and was 7x 1st, 3x GCH, 7x BOB, 7x BUOB and then capped off our show season by winning BDIS in the last ring of the year. Maggie will be bred to Rowe's Time Fusion this fall
